Currently with Connect edition of connection client (CC) software, the functionality is such that the CC will be in logged in state for a period of 7 days once it is logged in for the first day (provided internet is enabled in that machine)
Could this time period of 7 days be extended to 6 months or 1 year. Is there any provision for that or can this be taken as requirement with your dev team and fulfilled?
Even if you're using the Bentley product through dlls, there is still a requirement to authenticate and validate your entitlement. I think that's likely why you're being asked to sign-in. Checking out a license for the machine should resolve the entitlement issue, if that's the case. If that isn't the issue, then I'd suggest submitting a service request so one of our Support colleagues can help assess the issue.
Hi Daniel Bishop,
Let me give you some background on the issue. We use a tool called COMOS by Siemens to print the CAD files using certain Bentley products in the form of customized DLL by calling out Bentley products (MicroStation, Iplot organizer etc) within the DLL but we do not use Bentley products directly to print the CAD files. With the Select series of Bentley, this functionality is working fine from our COMOS tool.
With the connect series of Bentley product, the pre-requisite is that one should be logged in to Connection client for any Bentley product to work properly. For this reason we also federated with Bentley and then we only had to provide our company specific ID without password. After this, once we are logged in to Connection client, it should stay logged in for a period of 7 days. But this behavior is not consistent, sometimes it stays for 7 days and sometimes it asks us to provide our ID again to login which is not correct. This is one issue and hence Business requested us if there is any way to increase the time period from 7 days to 6 months or 1 year.
Coming to checkout, this option would not work for us as already mentioned above we do not use Bentley products directly to print and it happens within COMOS Application with help of a DLL. So it is only Connection client window which pops up as and when we initiate printing of a CAD file. That is where users provide their ID to login and the printing is done successfully.

Hi. Thanks for leaving some feedback.
Sorry, but this isn't possible. There would be security concerns in leaving a user signed in that long. It's important that users reaffirm their identity periodically.
What is the actual issue you're trying to solve with this? If you just don't want your users to sign in, then there are options. If your organization's identity provider is federated with Bentley, users shouldn't need to continually sign in. If federation is not an option, then you could look at checkouts for your users. Please let me know if either of these is helpful.
